Test Post

I am trying to design this blog myself, from the ground up. Let me know what you think so far. Here are some of the things I am specifically wondering about:

• Header: Is it too big? Too much going on? 
• Background: Is it too much with the dots in the header?
• Colors: I love the colors, but does it match with the name, "Canine Frosting". 
• Tag line: Is it enough to know what this is all about?

This is a work in progress and I am excited about what I have learned about design so far. Honest feedback would be very much appreciated!

Oh, and can anybody tell me how to get rid of the white bar at the top, between the nav and the banner?
